About me

Svilena Babukchieva (Lena) is an artist and illustrator working predominantly in the realm of realism and semi-realism. She devotes her time to experimenting with various techniques and intertwining symbolism into her work. Her goal is to provoke people's imagination and make them comfortable to immerse themselves in their feelings while studying her works. Her favorite subjects to explore are the inner world of people, the soulfulness of nature, and ordinary-looking, everyday objects, in the core of which extraordinary stories are hidden. The artist likes to take a “picture” of the essence of the object of her contemplations and pour it on paper. She interlocks with great care and patience the small pieces of the universe of everyone she touches and turns them into full-blooded and breathing paintings.

She attended master classes dedicated to watercolor led by Atanas Matsoureff and Andrian Bekyarov. This led to her fascination with the magic of watercolor as a technique.

If you want Lena to draw something cool for you, or you just want to write her something nice, or you want to talk to her about art – send your owl to lenababukchieva@yahoo.com or fill out the contact form on the site.
